Who am I ?

So why listen to me? Who am I, after all?

First and foremost, I am someone who has operated a successful home-based
business for more than nine years. It wasn’t always this way, though.

I used to work in a regular office in the middle of a busy city. I paid rent for my
small office, spent money commuting by bus or car to get there, then paid money
to park while I worked. I also had to live, so I spent more than $1,000 a month for
an apartment.

Don’t get me wrong – it wasn’t a bad way to live. I enjoyed my work and felt like I
was part of something working in a busy office in a busy city. But it was very
expensive and I spent a lot of my time just traveling back and forth to work.
Something had to change.

I decided to start a home-based business, and I’ve never looked back. I stopped
spending money to rent my office, stopped spending money to commute and was
even able to deduct many of my expenses from my taxes.

When I added it all up, it was like making an extra $1,000 a month. I really loved it – I
could slow down, work on my own time and save my energy for my loved ones.

Who can start a home-based business?

Now you know my experience and you might be saying “but I’m different.” True, we’re
all different. Yet there are advantages to starting a home-based business for people
from all walks of life.

Imagine a corporate manager, working 12 hours a day, six days a week to build someone
else’s business. He is tired of listening to his micro-managing boss and following meaningless
instructions.

He wants to escape the rat race, but he is afraid to leave his job and doesn’t think he
has enough money to start his own business. His solution?

He starts small, working from home on his own time.

Imagine an employee working for a different company. She wants a raise so she can start
a family, but the economy is not good and the company has no more money to pay her.
She feels trapped in her job, helpless to change her life. So she starts to dream about
starting a home-based business, where she can control her income.

Imagine a stay-at-home mom, who wants to generate some extra money to help her family.
She sees how hard her husband works, how he never has time for his family, and she wants
to make a change. She hears about a home-based business, and thinks it might be the solution.

Imagine a retired man who, after years of working long hours, finds he cannot afford to live
the way he did when he had a full income. Working just a few hours a week at a home-based
business might be enough to bring back the simple luxuries he misses.

Imagine a student, full of knowledge, courage and energy, but short of money. She knows it
will be years until her student loans are paid off, so she starts a home-based business while
she’s still in school.

What’s in it for you?

By now you might be asking yourself why so many people start their own home-based
businesses. What do they see in them?

Well, for one thing, there are valuable tax advantages to operating your own home-based
business.

Even working as an employee for another company with a home-based business on

When you operate your own home-based business, you are the master of your time and your life.
No one tells you what to do anymore. You gain incredible freedom, a feeling of self-reliance

I think you’ll agree that those kinds of advantages are simply priceless – but they don’t end there.

When you operate your own home-based business you work in the comfort of your own home.
No need to travel to your office or job anymore. In fact, you’ll have no need to travel at all,

Most of us did it throughout high school, and then in college or university.
No matter how many times a person may have done it, writing articles
often proves to be a task many try to avoid.

Now at a time when writing articles could help to market your website,
or your business, facing the job at hand can be just as daunting
as those term papers were.

While there are people who excel at writing, and in fact enjoy it,
many others would rather walk on hot coals than work on a single
article. What often sets those who enjoy writing from those that
don’t is that they’ve developed an effective system to help them
prepare, and then write their articles or other content.

One of the methods you can use to prepare yourself when tasked
to write an article is to first create an outline. Creating an outline
for each article you write helps you to be prepared. You have
a better idea of what to do first and can make a plan for each step.
Being prepared makes the job easier and faster. Being organized will
also make it easier to focus on the task at hand, instead of letter
your mind wander.

An outline can act as the design or blueprint for your article.
The outline helps you to create the introduction, body and conclusion
of your article. In the outline, you can write down some of the
ideas and sentences that you feel will look good in your article.
The outline becomes a focal point that could help make your article
more creative, interesting and appealing to a reader.

If you have several articles that you need to create on a specific subject,
you can do a more broad outline, that you can use for all of the articles,
especially in a series.

Do some brainstorming and jot down your ideas first, without editing them.
Think of some ways to attract the interest of your reader. Make sure that
you designate a time frame where you can write down all the ideas that
you can use for your articles. Also, before creating your outline, you should
have completed all your research and information gathering.
Review and reread your ideas and notes, the more familiar you are with your topic,
the easier it will be to write your article.

The next step is to think about subtitles for your article. Also, think about
the first sentence of your article, make sure it’s one that will grab the attention
of your reader. Do the same thing for a few subtitles for the middle paragraphs
(depending on the length of the article).

Now that you’ve created the skeleton of your article, it’s time to add the meat.
Write the introduction, which explains to the reader the topics you’ll cover. Next,
write each of the inner paragraphs, making sure to connect each paragraph
to the next one.Lastly, use the conclusion to reiterate your points,
and to drive home the main statement your article is trying to make.

You may find it easy to go through a “point-form” stage, before writing the full article.
Create your outline, then add bullet points for each of the sub-items you want
to discuss in each paragraph. Then, create your final version, turning the bullet
points into full sentences.

Ultimately, the outline helps you to stay focused, and to keep from straying
into different areas than those you intended to cover. I like to have a scratch
pad nearby, so that as I think of additional points or sub-topics, I can make
note of them — the starting point for an outline for the next article!
